Silly Inscryption: Kaycee's Mod demake/fangame in the style of Act II (pixel art) that actually manages to fit on a 1.44MB floppy disk like canon Inscryption. Despite the small size, gameplay-wise it's insanely close to the original, down to the tiniest mechanics and details. It also has a bit of new lore!

It also works on Android, which is actually what everyone knows it for, because no one cares about the rest haha.

There is currently a 2.0 update in the works, including more platforms (maybe even Mac/iOS!), even more challenges and customization, ability to play with other Scrybes' cards and even PvP multiplayer(!), join the Discord server so you don't miss it - discord.gg/FloppyScryption E7217B35

RAM~64 MB on Windows XP, ~128 MB on later versions

Controls (click to expand)

The main controls are just the mouse or touch. It works pretty much like you remember from Act II.

You can toggle the pause menu by pressing ESC (or the "back" button/gesture on Android).

However, since pixel cards don't have much space, it gets hard to see actual card portraits with all those sigils on top. So another control was added - Shift. Holding it while hovering over a card will make its cost/decals/sigils semi-transparent, allowing you to see the card underneath better.

Additionally, you can ring the bell in battle by pressing Space, but it's off by default and has to be enabled in the game settings.

List of gameplay changes (click to expand)
  • Changed art style to the Act II one (duh)
  • Removed challenge levels (you can play any challenge since the very beginning)
  • Updated challenges:
    • Original Smaller Backpack now can be stacked up to 3 times, disabling items entirely when all 3 are selected
    • Original Tipped Scales now can be stacked up to 4 times, starting you with more damage points on your side of the scales
    • Original More Difficult now can be stacked up to 5 times, giving you harder encounters in the early game
    • Added custom UnFair Hand challenge, which disables the "Fair hand" mechanic, making your opening hand truly random
  • Added custom Pelts starter deck
  • Added custom ??? starter deck
  • Re-added few Beast cards from Act II: Squirrel Ball, Salmon and Hawk. They can be obtained from any card choice nodes
  • Fixed several bugs / unintended behaviours original Inscryption had
  • Changed up pool of deathcards Leshy uses in his battle, to add custom ones
  • Assigned Zombie Parrot to Avian tribe, so Royal's totem actually does something

Hello, i like the fangame so far, but i had a idea to make it better, but idk if u can code it in, make it so that theres a option for custom starter decks, so that u can start with ANY card...

(+1)

Yeah, this will be added in the 2.0 update

(+4)

I really like this game. Please buy it and support the devs. It's clear to see a lot of passion and human effort has gone into this game.

(+2)

I love this very much. Thanks for this. It's make my dream come true. I really want to play it on my phone for long timeee. I have only one problem. I think your game doesn't have fair hand mechanic. I really want it because I want to try to Speedrun it. So if you can make it. It will fulfill my dream. Thank you again for making this masterpiece and sorry for my English. UwU

(+1)

The game does have fair hand mechanic. It also has a challenge that disables it. Maybe you turned it on by accident?

(+2)

oh I see it. Thanks for tell me that. I think I too blind to see it

Heyyy, so for some reason, every time i try to download, it warns me that this is apparently a trojan, but i would still love to try it! pls fix this tho

(+2)

No offence, but how am I supposed to fix that? I did not add any malware to the game, therefore I can't just remove it XD

The only "solution" I am aware of is paying for a code signing cettificate, which makes the executable look more trustworthy, but it costs like $200/year, which is not something I can afford for a small indie game almost no one will play anyway.

IIRC, you can just add it to exceptions in your antivirus. Or if you don't trust me, just play it in a VM/emulator, it should run just fine in those thanks to low system requirements.

(+2)

sorry, right after i posted this, i seen the other comment saying the same, and your reply. Sorry again!

You should be able to search up what you need to do in your settings to allow u to play it based off your computer or laptop type. Most of the time, you should just be able to click something in security that says you know its not certified and it should allow it to open (Ive seen it work on Mac and HP).

It's the AV's sensitivity that is too high. Avast was extremely guilty of this, Windows Defender not so much. Usually it's related to the "Potentially Unwanted Program" setting

(+2)

Thank you for making my dream of finally playing Inscryption come true. I'm from the Philippines, a third-world country, and can't even afford a low-end laptop for myself. Thank you for making a 99.99%(?) recreation of it (with an extremely low file size 🤗) and it to mobile. Thanks to you, my dream of finally playing Inscryption came true. Thank you. I love you all, creators who worked on this project.

(+2)

Look i need u to make an act 2 one cuz this is peak high qualiy perfection 20/10

(+5)

I obviously cannot recreate the Act II itself, since it is just too big (and wouldn't really bring anything new, because, ya know, the Act II's already pixel art), however, we are currently working on 2.0 update which lets you play with cards from other temples (Undead/Technology/Magicks), which still would be Kaycee's Mod, but way closer to Act II in a way. You can join our Discord so you don't miss it

(+1)

Yes  please that would be soo freaken awesome

(2 edits) (+5)

0-0 those gay squirrels must be having fun.

Edit: Also this might or might not be a error but since gay squirrels are called queerels, is the squirrel orgy supposed to be called queerel orgy?

Edit2: oh the original is called a squirrel ball. Dammit, you're turning the fricking side deck gay.

(+2)

We have officially created the gayest Inscryption fangame in existence 💅

(+2)

🔥

My computer is telling me this game is a trojan virus, is that normal?😭

(+1)

As I said in the install instructions, it's just false positive detections (because I didn't want to pay $200+ for a certificate). The game does not have any viruses

(1 edit) (+2)

This is absolutely amazing! Can't wait to play with other scribes' decks :)

P.S. The Yassify portraits option is frigging hilarious.

(+1)

why are some of the cards rainbow? is that like a shiny?

(+5)

Those are the effects of joke options "turn the frogs gay" and "turn the squirrels gay", from the video settings. They are not on by default. If you saw them in your game it means you turned this option on yourself, and idk why you're so confused then, what else did you expect when turning them on?

(+2)

Cool stuff!

(+2)

Absolutely amazing!!! It's incredible you were able to make it fit on a floppy disk!! You did an amazing job!!!! ^^ Would there happen to be any future plans to add controller support for the android build? I've been playing it on my ayn thor with just the touch screen but it would be awesome if at some point it had controller support if possible. Thanks!!!!

(+2)

In theory I could add support for controllers in 2.0, but I'm not entirely sure what exactly the controls could be? I assume it's something more fancy than just controlling the cursor with joystick :p But if you have some reference I'd be glad to implement it

(+2)

I was thinking it would work like the Act 2 battles on the console versions of Inscryption. Its very simple with basically just selecting a card and pressing A.  I have a couple clips of the switch version card battling in Act 2 I could send you on discord for reference, if you'd like. :3

(1 edit) (+1)

Yeah, just send on discord @femb0yash if you can :3

(Sorry for taking so long to respond, for some reason itch decided to mark your comment as spam and hide it :/)

Edit: couple days ago they sent me the clips, I also managed to obtain totally-not-pirated copy of Inscryption for Switch, and controller support will actually be included (to the best of our abilities) in the 2.0 update on all platforms! (But I must say, some platforms/gamepads do some rather silly shit related to mapping buttons, and we're not yet sure we have universal solution for that)

(+3)

This is absolutely fantastic! You did an amazing job!

(+5)

Utterly insane achivement! A lot of us were dreaming of having something like this on the go - now we do. Thank you!

(+4)

Ok this is amazing. I love this. The one thing I wish was in this is was the ability to actually unlock stuff like decks and challenges. Not the painting stuff cuz I'm aware that'd be a bit hard. That way this would feel like the actual rougelike. I'm still grateful I can play this on mah phone tho TvT

(+2)

Best android port since Ultradroid! ^^

(My one suggestion currently would be a mode that adds Act 2's bosses to Act 1.)

(+3)

This was actually one of the ideas for the content update, a challenge that replaces the normal bosses with other Scrybes' Act II battles, so most likely it will actually be implemented when I return from break and start working on 2.0 ^^

(+3)

SO COOL... i would love some sort of technical devlog for this, 1.4 Megabytes is really impressive!

(+3)

I did want to make a devlog video at some point, as there is indeed some interesting stuff in the making of this game, but as you can probably see from the joke trailer for this game, I look and sound absolutely horrible, so I'm not 100% sure whether I'll actually film it
