FloppyScryption 2.0 update development started!

As the previous game core was quite limiting (mostly due to the 1.44 MB size limitation, which pushed us towards less extendable design, but also due to Nim's limits), we are restarting it from scratch in another programming language!

Apologies for being on break for too long, I was a bit depressed for the last week or so, but I promise 2.0 won't take another 8 months, like 1.0 did 😭

There are quite a few of technical differences no one really cares about, but basically it should be way better than 1.0. But now to what actually matters - the gameplay.

One of the things people most commonly asked for was the ability to play with other Scrybes' cards, and I am bringing that to 2.0 (in my own perverted way). Basically at the beginning of each run you can pick one or multiple temples (sort of like in the beginning of Act II), and all the map events will only feature cards from the temples you picked. You will also get new custom starter decks for all your temples and ability to change your ordinary (or gay) Squirrels to whatever makes the most sense for your chosen temples (e.g. Skeletons or Empty Vessels). So basically you'll still get the proper Kaycee's Mod experience, but with different cards. But if you don't feel like playing with other cards, just keep the temple selection at default (only Beasts), and you will get the original experience as if the other cards weren't even there.

We're also adding more customization, both in form of Challenges/Anti-challenges, and general settings. Ever wanted to play Kaycee's Mod with hammer/clover like in Act II, or five lanes like in Act III, or Act II bosses instead of Prospector/Angler/Trapper? You'll be able to, in FloppyScryption 2.0!

One of advantages of new game core is improved portability, so we should be able to make much requested versions for iOS/macOS, and even a properly functioning web browser build for those tinfoil hat people who keep screaming that Windows version is malware in the comments. Speaking of web build, the game will also be playable right inside of Discord as an Activity (see screenshot below)! Currently we intend for it to just be a convenient way to play the web build, but who knows, Discord has great multiplayer capabilities, so mayhaps we'll also make some Inscryption PVP typa thing ;)

Speaking of Discord, most of update-posting actually happens on our Discord server, so join it if you don't want to miss 2.0 - https://discord.gg/pDZWNDaXs7

At this point the card data for all temples and card renderer are complete (e.g. game knows what the fuck the cards are, and can show them on screen):

And that's about it for now. If nothing goes wrong, it'll take just a few weeks to set some basics up and get map events running, though card battles will obviously take much longer, as we're adding two new cost systems, bunch more abilities and other mechanics. See ya in the next update post!
